TEN: The Executive Network

Membership Benefits

You’ll expand your client base by attending monthly meetings with thirty to thirty-five other business professionals like yourself, as well as  frequent mixers. We will never count the number of referrals a member makes, but each member of your group is expected to make an effort to assist other members either as a professional resource or a source of referrals. It’s not required to make referrals to every person, but all must make the effort to develop the relationships that will cause other members to know, like, trust, remember, and refer.

Your benefits include

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the typical meeting agenda?

The meeting will begin with informal “mixer-style” networking. After about 15 minutes or so, the moderator will give some introductions and make some announcements. Then the moderator will lead the room in elevator pitches before moving into a group discussion, guest speaker, presentation, or activity of their choice. Afterwards, the moderator will ask if there are any Needs, Deals, or Testimonials and form troikas just before the meeting ends.

What are elevator pitches?

Elevator pitches are 30-second descriptions of each person’s business. The key to a great elevator pitch is to keep it concise and memorable.  Begin and end with your name.

What are Needs, Deals, and Testimonials?

If a member has a need of any sort, i.e., an introduction to somebody, information about a lending process, a referral to a great contractor, etc., this is time in the meeting when he or she should ask the group. (It can also be sent out via our daily Needs & Deals email)

Also, if another member of the group helped you or made a referral to you in the preceding month, this is the time to publicly thank them. You can repay their helpfulness by giving them this free publicity. The best way to give a testimonial is to first describe what the member does for a living and then describe how he or she helped you.

What are troikas?

In networking, it refers to break-out groups of three or four people who schedule a follow-up breakfast or lunch to get to know each other better.  Some troikas prefer to get coffee or cocktails or even to go hiking, surfing or golfing.  The troika members decide what they will do.

Can a moderator kick someone out of a group?

If a member does not participate in the group or consistently takes without giving back, the moderator will inform TEN administrators.  The administrators will contact the member to discuss the issue.

If the issue is one of a personality clash with other members, TEN will try to place the member in another group.

If the member is dealing with some personal issues that affect his or her ability to participate, other solutions will be explored.

Can I still belong to other networking organizations?

Yes, please! We want each member of our home groups to become a center of influence in their business or practice area. By doing so, they will benefit the other members of their group. If the moderator determines that a member is taking and never giving, that member might be replaced.

I'm an attorney in TENex. If I would like to join TENesquire at a later date, would I have to pay TEN’s full membership price?

Nope! Because you’re already a member of TENex, all you would need to do is to pay for the remaining part of TENesquire’s membership. TENesquire members, as part of their membership get complimentary access to TENex.

How long is the guest period for?

You can attend meetings as a guest for up to one month before you’ll have to join in order to attend others. Our administrators will contact you to let you know when your guest period is over.

Can I send out a Needs Deal, or Testimonial during my guest period?

Yes! You will also receive them as well.

How do I send out a Needs & Deals email to other members of TENexecutives?

Simply email your Need or Deal to Nathan@TENworking.com. He compiles the emails he receives each day and blasts them to all members at about 4:30 p.m. We don’t recommend you include your telephone number in the email because you will likely be bombarded with phone calls. It’s a better strategy to ask people to contact you by email.
